This is a completely new, factory-fresh steering gearbox from BBT Quality Products, featuring an advanced modern-technology bearing system inside. It delivers noticeably smoother, more precise steering and dramatically longer service life compared to original or standard reproduction units.

After a proper professional alignment, owners consistently report the car drives and rides like a dream — tight, confident steering with zero of the vague or “creepy” feel you get from worn originals.
Important Installation & Adjustment Notes
⚠️ Be Very Careful — Adjustment Should Only Be Performed by Qualified Mechanics
BBT steering boxes are precision-adjusted at the factory to fixed, optimal values that work perfectly in almost all cases.
If you choose to check or fine-tune the adjustment:
1 - Completely loosen the adjustment bolt at the top.
2 - Adjust the large nut (with the 4 round holes) at the rear to set the worm-shaft play — it should turn freely with no up-and-down movement.
3 - Tighten the top screw until all play is gone.
4 - The steering box should now turn smoothly by hand. If it feels stiff, back the top screw off slightly.
If you are not experienced with recirculating-ball steering box adjustments, we strongly recommend letting a professional mechanic familiar with these units handle it.
Once installed and correctly aligned, these boxes turn beautifully. They may feel a little heavier during the first few miles — this is normal and fades quickly as the bearings seat in. After a short break-in period the steering becomes fantastically smooth and precise.
Important: These modern-technology boxes are more sensitive to wheel alignment than original units. A professional four-wheel alignment is definitely required after installation for best results.
These units fit your original-equipment (OE) pitman arm with no modifications.
We run these gearboxes on several of our own cars — they literally drive like a dream.
Pre-filled with correct grease; they are truly plug and play. If you still want to change the grease, use No. 3 Lithium-Based Grease.
